Lately my wife and I have been caring quite a load of stress, anxiety, worry, and well, just no having a routine or schedule that involves deep rest. We have entered into a ministry in a church in northern Alberta, but at the same time our home is in Southern British Columbia. That is not an easy commute! It is hard to deal with the ebb and flow of a family of five, and not have a space of your own. Anyway, before this turns into a self pity party … a congregation member and friend gave my a copy of a page from a bathroom reader to encourage me. Thought I would share it with others.

He brought me out to a wide-open place;

He rescue me because He delighted in me.

PSALM 18:19

Some days you’ll wonder how you got to where you are – completely entangled in the strong cords of duty and difficulty. You’ve been following God, and you can’t understand why he’d allow the weight of you burdens to crush you in such a way. You feel that if another problem comes to you, you’ll break.

Don’t despair, friend. God hemmed you in for a reason. He’s bringing you into a place of freedom, but first he must teach you to trust him for today.

So stop worrying about the future and focus on honoring God with the task that’s in front of you. He loves you and will set you free; only trust him.

God, I thank you for teaching me to trust

you during this difficult time. Help me to

honor you in all that I do. AMEN
