Living in a smaller town leads to the difficulty at times of finding good restaurants to eat at. Not so in Oliver, well not since the Firehall Bistro (follow the link to the website) opened up! The Firehall is a nice little place that is steeped in the local history of town. The site is the former location of the actual Firehall for the town of Oliver. There are loads of decor that highlight both the local agriculture history (who knew Oliver was once the Cantaloupe capital of Canada?!?) and the local firefighting history. Being in a town that holds the title of the Wine Capital of Canada currently does not hurt either, what with their large selection of wines! Come for a wine tour and get a good meal too! The place is well-kept, parking is easy and the bathrooms are clean!

Ah the food. Personally I am a sucker for the Firehall Burger, a great burger loaded with jalapeno pepper, cheese and all the fixings. Now that being said, if you do not like hot food, be careful on this one … it is HOT! But the menu is not a one trick pony here, the poutine is awesome, fish and chips, pasta of all sorts, great fries, and great specials everyday. The serving staff are great, friendly, quick and personable.

If you find yourself in Oliver, BC … stop by the Firehall and eat a meal … in my opinion it is well worth the stop!
